Auditions: A Skull in Connemara

Characters

The descriptions below are taken from the text. The director is not locked into these descriptions and they should only be used as a reference. The Director encourages auditionees regardless if they fit the below descriptions or not.

PLEASE NOTE: IRISH ACCENTS ARE REQUIRED FOR ALL CHARACTERS

Mick Dowd Male. 50s. A well-worn man whose job it is to dig up the bones of the dead each year. A man whose mood changes at the drop of a hat.

Mary Rafferty Female. 70s. A heavy-set, white haired woman. The local gossip, knows everything about everyone’s business and is not afraid to speak her mind.

Mairtin Hanlon Male. 20s. The rascal. Doesn’t take things too seriously and enjoys stirring up trouble. Brother of Thomas. Somewhat lazy unless it benefits him.

Thomas Hanlon Male. 30s. Brother of Mairtin. A guard who switches between sucking on a cigarette and an asthma inhaler. No-nonsense type, not like his brother.

It is highly recommended that auditionees read the script prior to auditions.
